These are Quiltville Mysteries I have participated in since my first one in 2008/09 - Double Delight. I will share the badge from the mystery which shows Bonnie's colors and a picture of my quilt.
This one was just super fun! I guessed pretty close to the reveal but I didn't think the pieces fit the way I thought she was going to put them together but I was wrong. They look like a big spool and that's just what Bonnie wanted to do. This is the closest I've ever guessed on one of her mysteries.
This is still a work in progress. Sometimes when you go rogue, the colors don't quite ring your bells after all. I've got all the units done; I just need to put the blocks together. The contrast is bothering me and a final decision hasn't been made yet.
I decided to make a smaller version of this quilt. I went rogue with my colors (again) and a friend sent me this bird picture at just the right time. I was choosing colors and the ones that God used on this little bird inspired me to do something similar. I did choose a more magenta pink than the pink on the bird but the colors worked and I had them in my stash so I went with it.
This one sat in the quilting queue awaiting custom quilting for when I had the time. There was a call for quilts for the local quilt show, so rather than custom quilting it, I decided to just get it done with an edge to edge (baptist fan) and finish it.
2021/22 was Rhododendron Trail which I skipped
2020/21 was Grassy Creek which I skipped
2019/20 was Frolic which I skipped
2019/20 was Good Fortune which was amended slightly.
My Good Fortune quilt was modified slightly and finished and gifted to Auntie Rosalie who was ill and eventually passed away. The quilt was then passed on to a family member.
I went rogue (as I usually do) on the colors for On Ringo Lake. I also toned down the sashings in between the blocks to simplify the pattern. I like to look on the palette generator sites for color combinations, and the peppercorns hit the spot for this one!
2016/17 was En Provence
I used what I had in my stash for this En Provence quilt. I loved this mystery and I wish I still had the quilt. I might have to make another one.
2014/15 was Grand Illusion
I started hand quilting on this quilt but regretted it because it was one of my least favorites of Bonnie's mysteries and I just wanted it done. I ended up finishing it on my longarm by stitching out some motifs that matched the hand quilted flower motifs. It turned out great and I gifted it to my daughter.
2013/14 was Celtic Solstice. I made 2 versions.

2012/13 was Easy Street.
This was a really fun mystery and once again I went totally rogue. I loved my colors and so did my nephew, Jon, who was the recipient of this quilt.
2011 was Orca Bay, probably my favorite of Bonnie's mystery quilts. I changed the blue to aqua and the red to brick red. I changed the direction of some of the string blocks to create a diagonal cross.
2010 was Roll Roll, Cotton Boll.

This quilt had quite the adventure. I started it and then we moved to our acreage property with three floors and many, many closets. When it was time to resume the piecing of the quilt top, it was nowhere to be found. I checked every nook and cranny and finally wondered if somehow it had gotten into the goodwill/donation pile during the move. I was so upset that I couldn't find it. Then one day, as I was looking for something unrelated for one of the kids in the games closet, there was an unlabeled tote. I pulled it out....drum roll...it was in that tote!! I was overjoyed. So I finished it. It was eventually sold to some friends from church.
2009 was Carolina Christmas
I pieced most of this at a quilt retreat. I added sashings between the blocks to quiet down the busyness of the blocks.
This was made before I was a longarm quilter. I sent it out for quilting and the thread used began to pop all over the quilt at about the 10 year point. I almost threw the quilt away but I couldn't bring myself to do that because I LOVE this quilt. So I began the lengthy process of 'skinning' the quilt which means removing the stitching, the backing and batting so I could requilt it.
I then decided I would enlarge the quilt to fit our king bed so I added borders and new batting and backing before requilting. I'm so glad I spent the time and effort to bring it back. I was not ready to part with it.
2008/09 was Double Delight, my first Bonnie Hunter Quiltville mystery.
I hope you enjoyed this mystery quilt tour through the years. I've learned a lot from Bonnie and have enjoyed the fellowship with other quilters through the years as we have worked on these mysteries together in groups.
